Outdoor Skating Rinks in New York

4/13/22 Time flies, it is already April! This semester is exciting. I worked on 7 papers (not all submitted yet), submitting 1 proposal, recruited many new students, saw many apartments, went to a lot of shows and restaurants, saw many new people, made good friends, played 3 new piano pieces, and did 1 charity run … oh, also dealt with many Covid shit for my parents. Although I did not do much online friendship making, I don’t think there is any change in terms of my love to you all. Stupid interactions only destroy the beautiful past and do not lead to anywhere.

There are many things I can write about New York. Since we ended with skating in the last post, we can continue the topic of skating. New York has three famous outdoor skating rinks, central park, rock-feller center and bryant park. The cool things about these rinks are that you can see skyscrapers, sun, travelers, you can hear the horns, city noises. I think all the skating rinks close around mid March. You will need to book reservations online before you go, only can reserve one hour a time.

Rock-feller center is most expensive but it offers free lockers. It is also the biggest rink and the least crowded (I think). Its skate rental is $10. Bryant park is free, but it is the smallest and the ice is like a piece of glass. I felt down quite a few times as my skates stuck in the ice. Bryant park is also the most crowded. Central park is the second most crowd. I went there 10:00am waiting for its opening then it is not too bad. Central park has the most expensive skates rental (20$-30$?) and locker rental ($8?). After skating at the central park, I got mad :). I went outside of Manhattan and bought my own skates. This skate shop is professional, called Westside Skate. You can make an appointment with their specialist to fit and mold a good pair of skates for your feet. (too sleepy to continue, come back later if I remember more things)
