Experimental bicycle – illustration

This is an illustration I did recently. I had so much fun to create it. The inspiration of this painting is a red bicycle. At about the same time, I am also attracted by an old picture of this chemistry experiment used in my high school chemistry lab, translated as “Petrus Jacobus Kipp” according to Internet. So I started drawing something to put these two of my favorite objects in a picture.

Here I used both the techniques of collage and pop. I have no ideas why I should put the two irrelevant things together, until later I encountered a twitter post talking about “chemistry”. I think “chemistry” is a good theme to connect the kipp and the redbicycle. Then I named this painting “experimental bicycle”.

At the end, I add a quick story about the pop art. Years ago, when Yayoi Kusama has a show in New York City. It is so popular and I waited more than an hour and then can enter the gallery. The shows used a lot of mirrors. See the following. When I have time, I can clean up the pictures of that show.
